On October 21, 2009 the University of South Carolina School of Law held the Endowed Scholarship Luncheon, an event that brings together students with their donors.

Over a hundred people attended the event. As President Pastides said, “It is a wonderful opportunity to match the beneficiary with the benefactor, giving them the chance to share their life stories with one another.”

In his remarks about the J.B. Ness scholarship and giving to the School of Law, Matthew T. Richardson stated, “In addition to Justice Ness’ own inspiring life and his enduring influence on the law in South Carolina, the J.B. Ness Scholarship is intended to do just what its current recipient, Wesley Henderson, wrote last week: ‘receiving this scholarship [was the] reason I decided to remain in South Carolina to attend the University of South Carolina School of Law.’”
