1968

Collins & Lacy, PC is pleased to announce that founding partner, Joel W. Collins, Jr., has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers 2008. Joel’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation and white collar criminal defense. Joel is currently serving as the President of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Collins & Lacy, PC is pleased to announce that Gray T. Culbreath, Managing Partner, has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers 2008. Gray’s practice focus includes products liability, class action litigation, transportation litigation, business and commercial litigation, and professional negligence claims. Additionally, he conducts an active appellate practice for his regional and national clients.

1989

Luther C. “Luke” Kissam, IV has been named senior vice president, manufacturing and law, and corporate secretary at the specialty chemicals maker Albemarle Corporation. Previously senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, Kissam will lead Albemarle’s manufacturing and law functions worldwide.

Amy B. Rothschild has joined Keaveny Law Firm LLC of James Island as of counsel. She practices in construction, professional malpractice, bad faith and personal injury defense.

1994

Wilkes Bowers, PA announces that Laura Johnson Evans has joined the firm located at 171 Church St., Ste. 210, Charleston 29401.

The McNair Law Firm, PA announces that Durham Boney has joined as shareholder in the Columbia office located at 1301 Gervais St., 29201.

1995

Mark Keel has been nominated by Gov. Mark Sanford to become the director of the state Department of Public Safety.

1998

AmWINS Group, Inc., wholesale insurance brokers, announced that Donna Hargrove has been hired as General Counsel.

Buist, Byars & Taylor, LLC announces that Amanda L. Callander and G. Hamlin O'Kelley III have been named principals of the firm located at 652 Coleman Blvd., Ste. 200, Mt. Pleasant 29464.

S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster announces the hiring of William Blitch between June 2007 and April 2008.

2001

The McNair Law Firm, PA announces that Pamela A. Baker and Jeffrey D. DeGood have joined as shareholders in the Columbia office located at 1301 Gervais St., 29201.

2002

Deirdre G. Brou, Major, U.S. Army, Litigation Attorney, Torts Law Branch, U.S. Army Litigation Division just recently had an article published: Alternatives to the Judicially Promulgated Feres Doctrine, 192 Mil. L. Rev. 1 (2007). The article won honorable mention, the National Institute for Military Justice Kevin J. Barry Award. The Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit recently cited to the article in its decision addressing the Feres doctrine (Regan v. Starcraft Marine, LLC).

Reed Rutledge Morton married Emily Claire McRedmond on March 28, 2008. Morton is a virology sales specialist with Abbott Laboratories.

2003

Genevieve Nissen Waller was appointed by the ABA-YLD to the Public Service Project Team for a one year term beginning in August 2008. Genevieve also won the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyer of the Year Award for 2007-2008 and will be presented the award on May 8, 2008 in Florence at the House of Delegates Meeting.

The Law Office of James R. Snell Jr. announces that David J. Miller has joined as an associate located at 316 S. Lake Dr., Lexington, 29072.

2004

S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster announces the hiring of Cary Goings and Jonathan Williams between June 2007 and April 2008.

Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, PC announces that Sallie S. Holder has rejoined the firm located at 300 N. Main St., Greenville 29601.

2005

S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster announces the hiring of Christina Catoe.

2006

S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster announces the hiring of Alexander Imgrund and Sara Trickey between June 2007 and April 2008.

Patrick Ryan Mohan and Margaret Bandy Mynatt were married on November 3, 2007. Patrick is an associate at White & Case LLP in New York, NY.

John Michael Montgomery married Beth Fairbank Findley on March 15, 2008. Montgomery is employed as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Costa M. Pleicones, South Carolina Supreme Court.

2007

Gary I. Finklea announces that J. Greg Hendrick has joined The Finklea Law Firm located at 814 W. Evans St., Florence 29501.

Ashley Renee Crump of Rock Hill and Clary Edward Rawl, Jr. of Florence were married on Saturday, April 5, 2008. Clay is an attorney with McAngus, Goudelock and Courie in Columbia.

S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster announces the hiring of Natalie Armstrong and Michelle Parsons between June 2007 and April 2008.

Seth Cole Rose married Anna Elizabeth Cartin on April 5, 2008. Rose is employed by the Richland County Solicitor’s Office as a prosecutor.

2008

Melanie Lea Francis of Columbia and Randy Brett Nattis of Atlanta were married April 5, 2008 at The Citadel Beach House. Melanie will graduate in May 2008 from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

In Memoriam

1936

Thomas Thompson Moore, 93, died Monday, April 7, 2008. He was an attorney with Robinson, McFadden and Moore.

1953

Wade Conan Humphrey, 89, of Greer, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008.

1963

The Honorable William “Bill” Clyde Anderson, Jr. died Thursday afternoon, April 10, 2008, in University Hospital in Augusta, GA, after an extended illness. He served both as Town of Hampton attorney and municipal judge for over 30 years.
