Melissa Hamilton received her J.D. from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law, where she was editor of the Texas Law Review, and her Ph.D. in Sociology from The University of Texas at Austin. Professor Hamilton was on the faculty at the University Of Toledo College of Law and is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina School Of Law. Professor Hamilton teaches criminal procedure, criminal law, death penalty, and sentencing. She is the author of the book, Expert Testimony on Domestic Violence: A Discourse Analysis (LFB Academic Publishing, 2009), and has published articles in law reviews and peer-reviewed social science journals. Her research interests include the empirical analysis of law and legal procedure, the legal and social implications of expert evidence, and the criminal consequences of interpersonal violence.
