William Kenneth Suggs
1893-1972

William Kenneth Suggs was a successful and distinguished lawyer, as well as a renowned community leader. A native of Horry County, the son of Lorenzo Dow and Jeanette Cox Suggs, he was educated in public schools, graduated from Wofford College and received Graduate Certificates from Columbia University and an LL.B. degree from the University of South Carolina Law School.

He practiced law in Horry County as a sole practitioner and with other distinguished attorneys. He was President of the Horry County Bar and was the County Attorney for thirty-eight years. He was a member of the State Board of Grievance and Discipline, and President, as well as Counselor and Director, of Peoples Savings and Loan Association.

He was an able, resourceful and fearless attorney, but always fair in his dealings and handling of legal matters. A dedicated student of the law, he was meticulous in the preparation of any legal matter. He was recognized and respected as an excellent trial advocate. For many years, he was a close friend and advocate of the late Judge L.D. Lide. Throughout his years of practice, he gave to his profession the greatest respect and his ethical standards were beyond reproach.
