Judge Kaye Hearn, class of 1977, became only the second woman in state history to be elected to the South Carolina Supreme Court, joining the first woman on the court.

Even in these times economic duress a shining example of mentoring emerges. W. Curtis Elliott, Jr., a 1980 graduate of the School of Law and partner of the firm Culp Elliott & Carpenter in Charlotte, NC recently shared his experience. Elliott’s firm recruited a young female graduate of the USC School of Law, Briani Bennett USC JD '06, to their firm. And in his words, “It is indeed rewarding to have an associate so ‘right out of school’ perform at her level.” (more)
