 Richard Briebart Establishes the
Billy C. Coleman Scholarship

Dean Pratt, Billy Coleman & Richard Breibart at the 2009 Endowed Scholarship Luncheon

Richard J. Breibart, an attorney in Lexington County and 1979 graduate of the School of Law, recently set up a scholarship to honor his mentor, Billy C. Coleman, a 1938 law school graduate.

I knew I wanted to do something for him - to honor him and put
his name on - and that it should be something attached with the University of South Carolina. When I met Dean Pratt – a man I
felt was very much like Mr. Billy and myself - I began to think
that a scholarship, especially one that would benefit those with
very little financial alternatives to attend law school, was the
perfect idea. Mr. Billy has given to everyone his whole life, but nobody knows he exists, or his story
,” stated Breibart.

Look for the complete article in our upcoming issue of
The Beacon
, due out in September.
Your participation will make a world of difference to the lawyers of tomorrow.
