The Final Rounds of Oral Argument for the 2008 J. Woodrow Lewis Moot Court Competition were held on Wednesday April 2 at the South Carolina Supreme Court. The competition is an annual moot court competition held in honor of former Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court, the Honorable J. Woodrow Lewis.
After an intramural competition of USC Law students, the two finalists, Jason Luther and Miles Coleman, presented oral arguments before Justice James E. Moore, Justice John H. Waller, Jr., Justice Donald W. Beatty, Justice Costa M. Pleicones, and Judge H. Bruce Williams. Both competitors performed exceedingly well, and are to be commended for the superb result of their many hours of preparation and dedicated work.
In the end, the South Carolina Supreme Court selected Jason Luther as the overall winner. Both competitors received their choice of an entire set of the South Carolina Code of Laws or South Carolina Jurisprudence. Both contestants also received certificates signed by Justice James E. Moore for their participation. Jason Luther and Miles Coleman did an exceptional job representing the Moot Court Bar and the Law School. Congratulations to Jason and Miles for their outstanding performances!
