J. Woodrow Lewis Competition:

The J. Woodrow Lewis Competition is an annual appellate advocacy competition held in memory of The Honorable J. Woodrow Lewis, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of South Carolina. Competitors must each draft a brief and participate in two rounds of oral argument, with two finalists selected to appear and present oral arguments before the South Carolina Supreme Court, who will select the overall winner. Due to the intensity and hard work of all of the competitors, the finalists will represent some of the finest oral advocates in the University of South Carolina School of Law. The final round of the competition will be held at the courthouse of the Supreme Court of South Carolina. Along with the honor of becoming a finalist in this competition, the winner and runner-up of the competition will receive monetary awards.
