School of Law welcomes the Class of 2015

Tuesday & Wednesday, August 21 & 22, 2012

We’re looking forward to welcoming the Law Class of 2015 to the School of Law community and to an informative and enjoyable New Student Orientation program on August 21 and 22, 2012.

Tuesday, August 21 will be a full day. Registration and a continental breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m., in the Law School Lobby. Students will spend the first part of the day learning about our academic community, their classmates, and the new and challenging discipline of law study. Dress for the day is business casual.

After the daytime activities, students return to campus at 5:00 p.m. for the Professionalism Oath ceremony. Faculty, staff, and alumni will be present to welcome you formally to the legal profession, as Chief Justice Jean Hoefer Toal of the South Carolina Supreme Court administers the Student Professionalism Oath. A reception with alumni mentors and faculty follows the ceremony. Dress for the ceremony and reception is professional attire. Family members of new students are cordially invited to attend the ceremony and reception.

Wednesday, August 22 continues with more introductions to people and programs that play an important role in the academic and professional development of our law students. Students will have pictures taken for the Law School Directory, so they should plan to look good at least from the shoulders up! Orientation concludes at 1:15 p.m., when students turn to reading and work on case briefs for the first day of class on Thursday.
