Pro Bono Program
Free Tax Preparation Season Concludes: A Huge Success!
Over 90 Federal and SC tax returns were completed and eFiled this tax seasonby a dedicated team of volunteer law students. Every Wed evening and Sat morning members of the team could be found in the Lobby of the Law School staring at a computer screen, sorting myriad forms, conducting interviews and completing tax returns for elderly and low income clients. For the 18th year the Pro Bono Program has sponsored the IRS- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) project. It has proven to be a an excellent opportunity to enhance skills and make real life connections to academic theory; all while helping to make a difference. Adam Landy and Angi Grant may be graduating this May but they have already expressed an interest in returning to help next year. "There is something about being part of a great team that makes you want to come back and help," said Angi Grant.
Many thanks to this year's VITA Team: Micah Johnson, Joy Middleton, Cara Goodman, Shawn Pellow, Sarah Powell, Adam Landy, Angi Grant, Paul Fogleman, Alina Dudau, Chris Haynes and Yvonne Murray-Boyles.
