April 9, 2012 Attendance Waivers

On Behalf of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs - Petitions for attendance waivers are now being accepted. Petitions should be filed with Associate Dean Danielle Holley-Walker in the Dean's Suite, Room 202. Prior to filing a waiver petition please review the attendance policy and the guidelines for the petitions. A separate petition is required for each course for which you are seeking a waiver.

An Application for Waiver of Class Attendance Requirement is available online. Hard copies of the form are also available in the Room 202. The petition should be accompanied by appropriate documentation to verify the reason for absences. It is not necessary to attach documentation for a minor illness. For example, if you were absent from class for one day due to a cold you do not need to submit documentation. In contrast, if you were absent from class for three or more continuous days you should be able to provide a doctor's note or other appropriate documentation. There is no need to submit documentation if you missed class due to the death or illness of a family member or friend. If you have questions about what type of documentation is needed please contact Associate Dean Holley-Walker via email or at 777-6209.

Please be aware that a meeting with the Dean Holley-Walker may be required before your attendance waiver is considered. You will receive an email via the email address listed on your petition if such a meeting is required.

March 26, 2012 – Fall 2012 and Maymester/Summer 2012 Registration Reminders and Helpful Hints

Please check your fall and Maymester/summer appointment times and registration eligibility on VIP. If your appointment times are incorrect, please see us immediately in the law registrar's office. If you have a hold on your registration, you must have the hold removed before you can register. To have holds cleared, you must contact the department who placed the hold.

If you get closed out of a course you may submit a hardship petition to law registrar's office. For instructions on completing a hardship petition, see the general information section of the registration materials online. Note, you cannot submit a hardship petition for a clinical course. There is not a waitlist for any course.

When creating your schedule, make sure you read the course notes. If you register for a course in which you have not satisfied the prerequisite/co-requisites, you will be removed.

The maximum number of hours you are allowed to register for is 16. VIP will not allow you to register for more than the maximum number.

Check for overlapping times. If courses overlap only by a few minutes, VIP may still let you register. Make sure to check your graphical schedule on VIP for any overlaps.

WARNING: Students opting to proceed with an overlapping time conflict will be charged with an honor code violation.

For Rising 3Ls: Registration is Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 1:45pm
